According to recent estimates, the population of California City, CA is 9,583.
So, not a very big place. I wouldn't look to see much in the way of public transportation.
The distance between California City, CA and Lancaster, CA is 31.0 miles(50.0 km) or 62 miles round trip daily if you drive there. Then of course The distance between Lancaster, CA and Los Angeles, CA is 45.0 miles(73.0 km)
If you're worried about a long commute, I'd suggest you not move that far away.

I STRONGLY suggest you get a place closer to your job unless you want to spend 15-20 hours a week on the freeway. If you only drive up to Lancaster and then take the train, the commute will be even longer. Trust me, don't do it.
