Questions About Lancaster California?

3 Comments 12 February 2010

So I am moving from reseda ca to lancaster because we are going through hard times and had to find a place to move into in very little time and limited income. I have read a lot of things where people say bad things about it. Can anyone tell me anything good about it. So maybe I can look at the bright side. Is it that bad? The neighborhood looks decent. Is there a mall and community colleges out there? Please share info. Thank you everyone who answers

I used to live in the Antelope Valley, I actually moved from there recently though. I grew up there and I have had some really good memories in the town.
Lancaster is basically like many other little cities in California. It is big, but growing very rapidly. Houses are being built everywhere, new fast food restaurants, and so on are being made.
However, you will find that you will hardly be spending any time in Lancaster. Palmdale, the neighboring city is probably the big hangout spot of the AV. There is a big mall, there are many restaurants, there are movie theaters, parks, you name it.
Dont get me wrong, Lancaster isnt completely empty. They have the biggest movie theater in the AV, they have one of the biggest community parks in the AV, and it is also home to..AV College.
AV College is an incredible community college. It is very big, there is every class possible, and you wont be dissatisfied. It is actually a very good school surprisingly. There is also a satellie university right next to it, CSUB (Bakersfield). Look up AV College for yourself.
Anyways, it is a good place to be. Good place to raise your children. I personally would never dream of coming back, but when I look back it was actually a great place to live. Of course there are bad parts, but at the same time there are always good parts. Have fun.

well, unfortunately it use to be a nice place to live, but because the desert communities HAD low prices of homes a whole lot of low class people moved out there; gangs, druggies, etc
but like all places it has its bad places and its good places, from Lancaster you can always go to Lake Elizabeth which is fairly nice and quiet, and Las Vegas is a lot closer
unfortunately the problems in the desert communities have gotten much worse because of all the foreclosed homes, so you have more low class, uneducated people moving in who don’t work, live off of welfare and medi-cal everyday, and cause problems, I don’t mean to sound prejudice or racist but that’s the truth, and a whole lot of those problems lie directly with a lot of black people who’ve moved into the area, they come from places like Compton and Inglewood because it’s actually cheaper to live in Lancaster and Palmdale

    Good: It’s cheap.
Think about it: LOTS of people have moved out there because they can’t afford to live in LA. Sorry to say, but people with low incomes like that tend to have crime in the neighborhood. Just a sad fact of life.
